Audio Book Review/Blog Tour: The One and Only Crystal Druid By Annette Marie

The One and Only Crystal Druid
(The Guild Codex: Unveiled #1)
By Annette Marie

Narrator: Cris Dukehart
Length: 8 hours and 12 minutes

I'm not your average girl.

My best friend is my switchblade. My favorite hobby is using it on the cruel, the abusive, and anyone who gets on my bad side. I'm a convicted murderer with a chip on my shoulder and a dangerous lack of restraint.

And then there's Zak.

His rap sheet makes mine look tame. The bounty on his head is worth more money than I'll ever make, and the deadly fae that shadow his every step wield more power than I'll ever know.

He's the Crystal Druid, and his first mistake was setting foot on my turf.

His second was saving my life.

And his final mistake will be failing to realize that however dark, however ruthless, however broken he is…

I'm worse.

My Review:

This book was everything I wanted and SO MUCH MORE. It was oh so very worth it to wait for the audiobook to release. I adored every minute of it. This was an amazing start to what I can already foresee as being an incredible story!

Saber Rose was something else! This was the first time I think I've read about a heroine who is this blood-thirsty and vicious from this author and I loved it! She has a backbone of steel and has mastered the art of blending in. She compliments Zak so well. This was also leaning to the much more adult side of the spectrum which I wasn't expecting but was happy about nonetheless.

Zak was amazing! I want to know more about him and his shenanigans. I want ALL the answers as fast as possible. Oh to be a fly on the wall of Annette Marie's writing room where she plots out all her stories on a whiteboard (P.S. That's just how I imagine it ðŸ˜…).

I wasn't expecting the revelation that happened literally in the last sentence of the last chapter. After that, quite a bit clicked into place. It was a magical moment if I do say so myself. This will definitely be getting a reread before I pick up the next one when it gets released as an audiobook.

The Audio Book:

The narrator put quite a bit of thought and research in for this reading. You can tell because her voice is just the right amount off from her usual narrations. I know this because I've listened to all the other books in this series also narrated by her. Her dedication and respect to this series shows in the work she did with this book and I loved it! She did this book and the heroine justice with her choices. I also saw that she answered a comment on Annette Marie's FB Group about how she almost drove Annette Marie up a wall with all the questions she asked because she wanted to get the narration for this particular series and character right. I can say with certainty that she nailed it!

My Rating:

UPDATE April 21, 2022 -

First Reread!

I still love this series! I'm very glad I reread this before starting the next book. I can't wait to figure out all of Zak's secrets and where things will be going from here! ♡

About The Author:
Annette Marie is the best-selling author of The Guild Codex, an expansive collection of interwoven urban fantasy series ranging from thrilling adventure to hilarious hijinks to heartrending romance. Her other works include YA urban fantasy series Steel & Stone, its prequel trilogy Spell Weaver, and romantic fantasy trilogy Red Winter.

Her first love is fantasy, but fast-paced adventures and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She lives in the frozen winter wasteland of Alberta, Canada with her husband and their furry minion of darkness. When not writing, she can be found elbow-deep in one art project or another while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.
