Book Review: Bearly Tamed By C.D. Gorri

Bearly Tamed
(Bear Claw Tales #3)
By C.D. Gorri

"He’s a Clan Enforcer who’s sworn off women. She’s human female looking for protection. Will fate bring the two of them together?"

Lacey Esmerelda Alain couldn’t help that she was born beautiful. Her face was both a blessing and curse. When a jealous suitor turns into a monster before her eyes and leaves a permanent reminder of her rejection across her cheek, she is forced to seek protection.

Daniel Devlin is the head Enforcer for the Barvale Clan. He doesn’t believe in fated mates. Not since his ex-fiancĂ©e left him standing at the altar.

He hasn’t even thought about the opposite sex! Well, except, for her, the stunning beauty his brother introduced him to a few months ago. Daniel did everything he could to forget Lacey. She didn’t belong in his world.

Finally alone, he can concentrate on his duties, but unforeseeable circumstances send her rushing into his arms. Afraid and injured, Lacey comes to Bear Claw Bakery looking for help after her psycho ex-boyfriend revealed himself to be a dangerous Shifter. Crazed with jealousy the man threatens to kill Lacey, but Daniel’s protective instincts kick in.

Can he keep things professional, or will his Bear demand he claim the beauty for his own?

My Review:

This was a traditional fluffy paranormal romance novel that I didn't know I needed! It was simple and to the point. I've been reading paranormal romance books that need to have very well built and complex universes and this was just what I needed to detox some of that (I, in no way, mean that in a bad way!).

Lacey was a great character to get to know! She's had the life drained out of her since she was young by her mother. The financial situation she's in now was also her mother's fault. She's trying to stay afloat and in comes a not-even-past-boyfriend to make things even worse. I liked how that situation didn't have a lasting impression on her life when it comes to guys. She's fun, loyal and caring.

Daniel was a breath of fresh air! He has an alpha *sshole vibe but proved to be anything but when it comes to his family and Lacey. Though he's not a saint because he has had a past encounter with her and did apologize for it without being asked. I liked how he was respectful of her and how he wanted to help her in any way he could.

By the end, I was beginning to think that the situation with not-even-past-boyfriend was just going to disappear but I'm glad it didn't. It was a tad bit rushed but it was well written. I'm glad everything got resolved and the epilogue was sweet!

My Favorite Quote:

"Lacey, I just told you monsters are real. [Having you run screaming] wouldn't be unwarranted."
