I may have reached my breaking point. As if trying to graduate from a school for supernaturals isn’t stressful enough, my relationship status has gone from complicated to a straight-up dumpster fire.Oh, and the Bloodletter has decided to drop a bomb of epic proportions on us all...Then again, when has anything at Katmere Academy not been intense? And the hits just keep coming. Jaxon's turned colder than an Alaskan winter. The Circle is splintered over my upcoming coronation. As if things couldn’t get worse, now there’s an arrest warrant for Hudson’s and my supposed crimes—which apparently means a lifetime prison sentence with a deadly unbreakable curse.Choices will have to be made...and I fear not everyone will survive. The Crave series is best enjoyed in order.Reading Order:Book #1 CraveBook #2 CrushBook #3 CovetBook #4 Court
My Review:
* Please take everything in this review with a grain of salt. I realize I'm just bitter that Jackson is getting the short end of the stick time and time again.
Here I go again with my unpopular opinions! I went into this book with no expectations due to my experience with Book #2. I've calmed down since then and just wanted to get this over with. Turns out that mindset didn't do anything for this book. I was basically numb to the characters and story from the get-go.
This book being as long as it is (21 hours WTF!) didn't help things. This book should have been at most a 12-hour book. The writing is so descriptive with these 10 to 15-minute rambling inner monologues from Grace that serves no real purpose for the plotline. I know how she's feeling already. The majority of the story is told from her perspective. I don't need all this extra exposition. Let's move on with the action sequence, please and thank you.
I'm still angry that Jackson was thrown to the side like yesterday's trash but there was a reason for his circumstance presented in this novel. I understand that *twist* but it still doesn't mean I have to like it. What I disliked, even more, was how after Jackson was thrown away he suddenly had no personality whatsoever. It's later explained why but it just didn't sit well with me either.
Hudson was an okay character after he and Grace started talking and seeing where they stand with each other (probably around 4-5+ hours in the audio book). I see the appeal to Hudson now that I've calmed down from the last book. He truly likes Grace and wants what's best for her even if it means pushing her to go and get it. Jackson, on the other hand, wants to protect Grace at all costs. It's a different kind of love. Frankly, Jackson deserves better after that plot twist.
The ending was somewhat interesting. Though I was numb and fast-forwarding through the audio book because of all the rambling inner monologues that were smack dab in the middle of an action sequence and just wanted to get it over with. I may or may not pick up the next book. I don't know if I want to put myself through another 20+ hour audio book that I don't particularly enjoy for the sake of finishing a series.
The Audio Book:
The narration was great. All the characters were distinguishable from each other and there were no weird noises in the background.
