My Review:
I've been loving the last few releases in the Black Dagger Brotherhood and Legacy series. This one was no different! It broke my heart, punched me in the feels, made me angry and then tied it all up in a pretty bow.
Due to my lack of interest in certain storylines and characters, I chose to skip part one (which is the book called The Shadows - BDB #13) of this story and I'm regretting the moment I made that decision! This would have probably been so much more intense and heart-wrenching had I read that book.
Trez was such a heartbreaking character to read about! He was down so deep in his own sorrow due to circumstances beyond his control. It was hard to watch him go through what he did. I wish he had gone about Therese a different and more honest way but I can accept that with the way things worked out in the end.
Therese was a sweet and loyal person who had a great family until she reacted in anger to a situation that (in my opinion) should have never been kept from her in the first place. With that, she learned how to be her own person away from her family. I liked how she didn't jump on the help Trez offered from the beginning. She was looking to carve her own way in life regardless of the circumstances that left her in.
I was losing hope by the last few chapters but I'm SO happy that things worked themselves out with some help from a sassy character *wink, wink*! I'm excited about the future installments in this series and its spin-offs!
My Favorite Quotes:
"And besides, his grief was like the snow on his car. Blinding him to what was all around, rendering him cold and sightless as to the truths he was living in."
"[...] Once the past got a stranglehold on you, it was like an anchor with grasping hands, dragging you down, down, down, until you couldn't breathe and you didn't know where the surface was anymore."
"[...] Emotions weren't reasonable and couldn't be reasoned with."
My Rating:
Having just read The Shadows not that long ago, I can't wait to read this one. I just need to hurry and catch up!
