My Ramblings: Same Book, Different Format?

Same Book, Different Format?

I never thought that reading the same book in different formats wasn't normal until I saw someone on Twitter point it out. We all know how Twitter can be, so I'm still taking it with a grain of salt.

I'm pretty sure that most of us bookish people have certain genres that we prefer to read in different formats. For me I prefer reading urban fantasy as audio books, but when it comes to paranormal romance (and my eyes aren't on fire) then I'm pretty happy with an ebook. I've taken a step back from paperbacks and hardcovers over the last few years because small text isn't fun to read anymore. Couple that with my unknown allergy that likes to make my eyes burn and you've made me one unhappy camper.

So back to the point of this post. In the past, I have re-read a book just because the audio book had been released more recently. I'm a big proponent of reading an ebook and later giving the audio book a listen. Though, I don't follow along with the audio while looking at the ebook because that's a lot of work and when I'm reading I want to relax.

Do you enjoy books in multiple formats?

  1. I don't listen to a lot of audio but I'm seriously considering trying it again, especially since I hear about so many good narrators out there, and how they make it such a different experience! And I do think urban fantasy would be a blast on audio.

    1. You just need to find the narrator/reading style you like best with an audiobook. It can take some time but it's totally worth it! Urban fantasy on audio with a good narrator makes the story that much better! :)

  2. Not all books work for me in audio format, and I struggle with certain genres in audiobook format. I know I have given up on some books on audio, but they were great for me, when I read them.

    1. I agree that audio doesn't do all stories justice. Sometimes the story doesn't "fit" with audio and sometimes the narrator could've been better in my humble opinion. It happens unfortunately :/
