My Ramblings: A Love Letter To PNR

 A Love Letter To PNR
(Since Valentine's Day is coming up I thought
I'd spice things up a little. I hope you enjoy!)

Dear Paranormal Romance,

We had a rocky start. For that, I'm at fault. I only got to know you when I picked up Twilight. Which, again, I'm truly grateful but forever sorry for. I didn't mean to read one of what some consider the worst example of you.

Please be assured that you don't have to fret! I've long since corrected my oversight. I've gotten to know wonderous beings and magical worlds because of that. These creatures that come from other worlds with almost human problems have captured me so thoroughly in their strong otherworldly grasp!

You were there for me for the highs and lows and the low lows. I'll always remember those times when I took comfort in having you beside me. Regardless of how we started, we're here now. We've made it through, not unscathed, but whole nonetheless.

I'd like to thank you for being there from our rocky start to, what I now consider, very solid and established ground. No matter what traditional publishers and agents say about you I'll always know they come from a place that lacks facts and reason. Behind whatever conclusion they may decide to throw into the world may you outmaneuver and outshine them all in the end. I believe in our future because I know how solid the foundation to our past was and still continues to be.

Lovingly, Mikky

If you were going to write a love letter to a genre which would you choose?

  1. That made me smile. I never read Twilight, but I think people are too hard on it. It built a following for a reason. I think a story can be good without the writing being great (which is what I heard the problem was with that series).

    1. Then my job was accomplished! I had so much fun writing this! The story for Twilight was pretty average. From what I've seen most people have a problem with Bella not having much of a personality. The writing wasn't amazing but I've read much worse throughout the years. What finally broke the camels back for me was how icky of a situation the author put Jacob in with Bella and Edwards daughter :)

  2. This is awesome. :) I'm still discovering a lot of urban fantasy and I know there's a lot of overlap with that and PNR, but I can say that a lot of the UF I've tried I've loved, so I'll definitely be reading more! And a good romance is icing on the cake!

    1. Twilight kick started the love of PNR and UF for a lot of people! I'm glad we can all come together and recognize the huge part it played in that :)
