My Ramblings: Futuristic & Dystopian TV Shows

Futuristic & Dystopian TV Shows

I've been loving all the futuristic and dystopian TV shows that have been getting released as of late! Westworld, after much insistence from a friend, was what got me into it all and I'm SO excited! I love seeing TV shows that relate to a big chunk of what I like to read about on a daily basis on the small screen.

Here's a rundown of what I've watched and loved in this "genre" of TV shows:

- As hard as it was to watch, The Handmaids Tale has built an amazing dystopian world! My expectations are so high for how the story is going to move forward in season 2 (which comes out April 25th). This show is based on a book which ends where season 1 left off. Considering how hard to was to watch the first season I don't think I'll ever be willing to read about it.

- I fell in love with Westworld just because of how the story came full circle at the end. I have yet to watch another show that does that as well as Westworld did. The idea of robots becoming "conscience" beings is scary in of itself.

- Future Man was a futuristic show with a lot of humor (more towards the dirty side of the humor spectrum) and it was so fun to watch their mishaps and the silliness that would ensue afterward. A second season can't come soon enough!

- The world building in Altered Carbon is amazing! I love how the humans (if you have the money) don't necessarily have to die. It's interesting to see how the problems get solved in a system like that and the consequences of it all.

In conclusion, I hope this continues to be a trend and that it takes off for, at least, the next couple of years. I haven't enjoyed watching this many TV shows (one after the other) for the longest time. This looks very promising for future shows in these genres!

Do you like this trend in TV shows?
Have you watched and loved any of the shows I mentioned?
