Audio Book Review: Wicked Bite By Jeaniene Frost

Wicked Bite
(Night Rebel #2)
By Jeaniene Frost

Narrator: Tavia Gilbert
Length: 8 hours and 55 minutes

In the newest Night Rebel novel, set in New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress world, beautiful, daring vampire Veritas risks all to protect Ian...

Some promises are meant to be broken...

Veritas spent most of her life as a vampire Law Guardian. Now, she's about to break every rule by secretly hunting down the dark souls that were freed in order to save Ian. But the risks are high. For if she gets caught, she could lose her job. And catching the sinister creatures might cost Veritas her own life.

Some vows are forever...

Ian's memories might be fragmented, but this master vampire isn't about to be left behind by the woman who entranced him, bound herself to him, and then disappeared. So what if demons, other Law Guardians, and dangerous, otherworldly forces stand against them? Come hell or high water, Ian intends to remind Veritas of the burning passion between them, because she is the only person seared on his mind--and his soul...

My Review:

Throughout this book, I was lukewarm at best until the crap finally hit the fan in the last few chapters. Things changed drastically in those last few chapters. I don't know what I was expecting to make me not love the beginning and middle of this novel. Maybe it was the amnesia plotline that made me take a step back and reconsider because I dislike it in general regardless of the book or author it's written by.

Veritas is slowly winning me over. I got off on the wrong foot with her in the last book in Vlad's series and even though the first book in this series blew me away I was still iffy about her. Though I can't deny the chemistry she and Ian have and don't even get me started on how much I adore all the witty banter and sexual innuendo-laden humor. She's strong and protective of what she loves and that includes Silver (which is too adorable to harm! Please may the writer gods protect the beautiful and innocent creature!)

Ian has proven himself to be time and time again an amazing and protective guy to a degree. He may come off as the bad guy depending on if what he wants will affect the other person or not. I like how bloodthirsty he is when it comes to protecting Veritas. It's sweet in a very disturbing and creepy way because he's a vampire... duh.

I didn't know what to expect from the next book in the series before the very last chapter and boy am I ready! That wasn't even on my mind and it was a perfect way to end this book. Things were resolved enough where it felt like a good stopping point while at the same time casting out future storylines that will come to pass. I wasn't mad at this ending and I'm so glad the amnesia thing is over and done with at this point.

The Audio Book:

The narration was great! I liked how she kept up Veritas's accent throughout the novel. It helped to immerse me into the story even farther.
