But as her seventeenth birthday approaches—the typical age to be sold to a new master—death threats endanger her sisters. She now faces two options: run or meet society’s expectations.
For once, Cynthia isn’t going to let her older sister shield her from the problem. She’s going to prove to herself, her sisters, and society that her family isn’t a threat to their traditions. She willingly chooses to be purchased by a new master. A bold step that takes her somewhere she never thought she would go and to a man she might possibly fall in love with. Book Review: Take a Chance By Abbi Glines

Take a Chance
(Chance #1)
By Abbi Glines

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the story of Grant, the sexy playboy who first captured readers' hearts in Fallen Too Far.

When Harlow Manning's rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan's room in nothing but his boxer briefs.

Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He'd known about Nan's reputation, but still he couldn't resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister, even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow's eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her?

My Review:

Say it with me: Cliff-Hanger.

This was a really good book. I'm not saying that because I, very much, like Grant and Harlow isn't that bad. Their story was very well thought out and written. UNFORTUNATELY, it ended in a cliffhanger that I do not appreciate. Let's wallow in misery 'til the next book releases...

Harlow was a nice heroine. She was cautious and shy, but when push came to shove you better get ready because she has a hidden back bone that appears when needed.

Grant is Grant. I have wanted to read his story since Fallen Too Far. Though he got a little TOO possessive and caveman-ish in this novel, I still want a happy ending for him.

The ending was horrible. OK, OK. It was a horrible turn of events, but it was VERY well written and I totally want to break into Abbi's house and steal the manuscript for Book 2...

Favorite Quotes:

"The gun, man. Remember the gun. My woman comes armed."

"No, she's mean all the time. Tequila has nothing to do with it."

Blog Tour/Review: Ungifted By Kelly Oram

Ungifted
(Supernatural #2)
By Kelly Oram

Expected Publication: March 2014
Genre: YA paranormal/fantasy

Even though her father is running for President of the United States, Grace St. Claire is as normal a girl as they come. She’s clumsy, shy, and an outcast among her peers. She even manages to nearly die in a freak accident in front of the entire school. But when Grace survives a vampire attack she quickly learns that she is anything but ordinary.
There’s something about human Grace that has all the supernaturals around her going crazy. Her best friend’s brother suddenly wants to date her. Her worst enemy has sworn to protect her even against her wishes. Someone with very powerful magic wants her dead, and the vampire that attacked her has developed an obsession with making her his eternal mate.

In order to survive—and not as Count Dracula’s undead bride—Grace dives head first into the terrifying world of the supernatural. She teams up with a charming but mysterious warlock who strolled into town causing trouble and spouting stories of a Prophesy and Chosen One that looks exactly like Grace. Together they must figure out why Grace is different, who wants her dead, how she’s connected to the Chosen One, and who they can really trust.

My Review:

* A free eCopy was provided by the author in exchange of an honest review.

This book was just a whirlwind of emotions. I was both disappointed and excited for this book. Why you ask? Well the disappointment started when I learned I wasn't getting anymore of Dani & Gabriel (that's what I was going for in this novel). After the first chapter I got excited because I just loved how Mrs. Oram narrated the novel.

That was just the start of the emotional roller coaster. I was changing teams faster then I turned pages. This wasn't a Love-Triangle, it was more of a Love-Pentagon. The problem got to be so frustrating that 50% into the novel I decided I was Switzerland

Grace was the ultimate klutz, but she was also nice and a very good person all around when you took the time to actually get to know her.

"I'm socially incompetent and so clumsy I'm practically handicapped."

She was also bullied and called DesGrace (which made me LOL). Another trait, that was quite annoying, was her being SO emotional. After you discover what she really is you understand the why of that and Ethan coming into her life. But, until that happens your left with a confused, in-love-with-everyone girl (which isn't as exciting as it sounds). Personally, I found her to be a slut (sorry for the language, but what other word out there describes a girl who goes around kissing every guy in her path? If you find one, please help me and comment below).

One other thing/person that I wanted to maim in this novel was Russ. I've hated him and his attitude since Book 1 with Dani  Gabriel. So I got very pissed off when I discovered he was part of the Love-Pentagon. Was I the only one who saw that he only wanted Grace because of... I'm sorry, I can't finish that sentence. It's a spoiler. I won't ruin this book C:

Preston was nice. Though what happened to him in the end was not fair to him. He had such a hard life. He was also a good person, respected others and NEVER did ANYTHING to Grace. Unlike Caleb, but let's leave that on the down low. It was just sad. I was actually almost siding with him on the Love-Pentagon

Andrew. He escaped death so MANY times. How you ask? Well, the answer consists of one word. The person: Grace. If it weren't for her conscience half this book wouldn't have happened and by that I mean I wouldn't have been sent on the emotion roller coaster of my life!

"His depth and delusion never ceased to amaze me."

Eventually, more like by chapter 28 into the novel, I finally decided on a Team. Ethan!! After he got over Grace and the why's and how's of it all he was actually a VERY nice, sensitive, charming guy and his good looks only adds to all that. I seriously hope Grace accepts his oath (& I want to read that scene Mrs. Oram....Pretty please? hehe).

Favorite Quotes:

"Well, unfortunately my life is not a teen romance novel. Ethan Dunn is no Edward Cullen. He's quite the arrogant prick, actually. And not in an endearing Jace Wayland kind of way."

"Loneliness, despair, anger, regret...Your heart can soar, but it will just as often break."

"'If you really need to see some impressive abs that badly, I'll take my shirt off for you.'
'Oh, please.'
'No, really. I'll even let you feel them. That's like Twilight in 3D.'"

My Rating:

& a half.

Kiss of Fire
(Imdalind #1)
By Rebecca Ethington

Joclyn Despain has a scar. In fact, it is almost like a brand on her skin. She doesn’t know why it appeared on her neck, but she doesn’t want anyone to see it, including her best friend Ryland, who knows everything else about her. The scar is the reason she hides herself behind baggy clothes, and won’t let the idea of kissing Ryland enter her mind, no matter how much she wants to.
The scar is the reason she is being hunted.
If only she knew that she was.
If only she had known that the cursed stone her estranged father sent for her 16th birthday would trigger a change in her.

Now, she is being stalked by a tall blonde man, and is miraculously throwing her high school bully ten feet in the air.

Joclyn attempts to find some answers and the courage to follow her heart. When Ryland finds her scar; but he knows what it means, and who will kill her because of it.

Eyes of Ember
(Imdalind #2)
By Rebecca Ethington

Joclyn is in hiding, hunted by the man she still desperately loves. Ryland is gone, his mind erased; no memory of Joclyn remains, but Joclyn’s heart desperately begs her to hold out hope. Meanwhile the black-eyed monster that possesses him attempts to kill her over and over again.
If it wasn’t for Ilyan, Joclyn would be dead by now.

Ilyan, the man who once stalked her, is now Joclyn’s protector, the only person she has left. He protects Joclyn from the men who seek to end her life, and all the while, she is haunted by dreams where Ryland begs her to break the bond between them.

Ilyan is there. Always there.

Ilyan trains and prepares her, teaching her everything she needs to know in the hope that one day she can avenge Ryland, if not protect herself from him.

And then, there is her father.

The man who has never been there is suddenly responsible for everything. And who he is has made Joclyn into something she never wanted to be:

The Silnỳ.

Amazon | B&N | Kobo |

Scorched Treachery
(Imdalind #3)
By Rebecca Ethington

While Joclyn is trapped in the tormenting hell of Cail’s mind, the battle around her only continues to grow and spread.
*

Edmund has infiltrated the underground hallways of Prague, guiding the massacre that would end the lives of the last of the great magical race. In her attempts to stop him, Wynifred has been captured and her magic restrained. Chained up in the ancient dungeons of Prague, her fate is left in the hands of her father, who has tried to kill her before.
With Ryland’s screams and Sain’s fragmented sights as her only company, Wyn must rely on something that has been hidden deep inside of her for centuries to help them break free.

 *

Ilyan’s whole life has been building up to one purpose. Protect the Silnỳ. He knows what he must do, and he has no doubt in his ability to do so.

But when his father’s magic removes Joclyn’s mind from her body, he is left protecting the shell of the one person he loves. Desperate to find a way to break her free of her prison, he makes a choice. And that one choice changes everything.

Now, Ilyan finds himself bound to Joclyn in a way that he never knew to be possible. They say that blood is thicker than water, but Black Water burns, and Ilyan’s heart may not be strong enough to keep the water pumping through his veins and give the girl he loves back into his brother’s care.
Even if he can, it may not be safe to do so.

Amazon | B&N | Kobo |

Soul of Flame
(Imdalind #4)
By Rebecca Ethington

The Time for the final battle has come.
Edmund's armies have surrounded the Rioseco Abbey, trapping the few survivors inside. The sight that Ilyan was given a thousand years ago is about to come to pass.
If only Joclyn was able to fight.

Joclyn is tormented by the hallucinations that Cail’s mind has left her with, her magic an uncontrollable torrent that even Ilyan cannot control. Her moments of lucidity are broken by fears of dripping pipes and bleeding walls, and a desire to kill Ryland that she is having trouble trying to ignore.

The sight has shown her power, shown her success, but it has also shown her death – The end of her life something she is not quite willing to give up on yet.

Even past her death, the sight has shown her love, and that love may be the only key to her sanity, to her strength, and to Edmund's death.

That love may stand in her way, and a single choice may tip the scales and secure their future, or destroy their fate.

Blog Tour: Rumor Has It By Elisabeth Grace

Rumor Has It
(Limelight #1)
By Elisabeth Grace

Publication Date: December 6, 2013
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

All publicity is good publicity, right? Unless you’re recent college grad Ellie Wagner and an embarrassing video of you and your boyfriend goes viral. Every man in your life abandons you, but who knew a one-minute clip of your latest doomed relationship would brand you a slut, prevent you from getting your perfect job, and force you to keep doing the one thing you swore you’d never do again…live with your mother.
But staying with mom and her latest boy-toy (is this husband number four or five?) until your life turns around might not be all bad. Especially when you fall – literally – at the feet of a sexy, green-eyed stranger who offers you freedom and a life of luxury on a gold-rimmed platter.

There’s only one little problem – the man of your dreams is none other than Mason Nash, the latest hip-hop star busting up the music charts. Fame and fortune are his calling cards and he’s vying to steal the show on a new reality TV series that will catapult him into mainstream stardom. Hello spotlight.

The man behind the famous persona is perfect for Ellie in every way, but can she overcome the ugly pitfalls that come with Mason’s celebrity status? Or will she be forced to choose between the man she loves and the independent life she longs for? After all, fame and fortune aren’t always what they seem and not all publicity is good publicity…

**My Review**

* I received a free eCopy of this book from the author in exchange of an honest review.

This book started off nice. It was just the right amount of funny and interesting to keep me hooked. That basically describes this book as a whole. There was nothing that stood out to make it amazing. It was just a nice average. The characters were well written, the story moved along nicely and the story in itself was very well narrated.

The main heroine is Ellie. She had to move back home after college since she couldn't find a job in her area of expertise. Adding even more to that is a viral video of her throwing food in her ex's face after being called all sorts of names. She then meets Mason. After that the story begins to fall into Predictable-Ville and Drama-Land.

She's a very nice, outgoing and an independent person. Too bad her backbone didn't apply when Mason was around. It was so annoying having her agree to everything he said and offered. I'd be okay with all of that if it wasn't for the ending. More that later on in this review.

Mason. How can I begin to describe him. According to Ellie he was

"(...) Intense? Sexy? Charismatic? Take-charge and yet gentlemanly? (...)"

I wholeheartedly disagree. At first he comes off commandeering and secretive. Both of which are turn-offs. Later in the story, just when he's starting to get my respect he just crushes it. How you ask? I'll have to tell a little story first. When Ellie sees something that's troubling in a magazine she still goes to him and asks for an explanation on his part BEFORE doing ANYTHING. He doesn't return the favor. When she gets into a situation and he finds her (and even though it looks HORRIBLE) he simply breaks up with her then and there and starts calling her all kinds of names. The least he owed her (and that she provided for him in other situations) was to give her the benefit of a doubt.

Also for the first time in a novel I found inta-Trust. It was strange. After having known Ellie for less then 24 hours, Mason KNOWS that he can trust her just because she doesn't know he's famous. Well, it would be a perfectly plausible turn of events if she'd played him and sold his stuff to fans online. There are people out there who would do this.

The ending REALLY pissed me off. She heard his explanation and just fell into his arms. It was just TOO faery tale-ish for me. I LOVE happily-ever-afters, but with a LARGE dose of reality.

Favorite Quotes:

"You ARE good enough. It doesn't matter what anyone else says or thinks of you, as long as you know your worth in your own heart."

"I'll never lie to you. I may tell you things you don't want to hear from time to time, but I will never be dishonest."

"That was the problem with the bottle that my mom never figured out; the relief it provided only lasted as long as you had your lips fused to it."

Hiya My Little Predators!!

Below you'll find info on the trilogy and an EXCLUSIVE excerpt!!
I intend to read the trilogy at some point. I'm just a sucker for abused heroines C:

Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Saving Rain
(Rain Trilogy #1)
By Karen-Anne Stewart

Raina has tried to forget her past, forget the pain, but when she finds herself staring straight into the fury blazing in her ex-boyfriend's eyes, her dark past comes rushing back. Furious with herself for actually having chosen someone like her father, she uses that anger to her advantage and fights for her life...and for her future that she prays will involve the man she can't seem to get out of her head.
Kas is a natural leader, a fierce  fighter, the type of man you send in when you need to get the job done. He is a courageous hero who is used to risking his own life to save others, but can he save the one who has captured his heart from her horrific past and the men who are hell-bent on destroying her?

As Kas and Raina try to navigate through the twists and turns of a deviously intelligent human trafficking group, they find solace in each other's arms. Can they infiltrate the trafficker's tight ring, saving the innocent lives from imminent danger before it's too late?

Healing Rain
(Rain Trilogy #2)

By Karen-Anne Stewart

Shattered when Raina runs after his marriage proposal, Kas is hell-bent to find her and bring her home, where she belongs. He will bend every law necessary to do so, willing to do anything to protect Raina from her demons and the men who haunt her, going as far as placing his career and life on the line to save hers. Raina will give up everything she has worked so hard to achieve, even flee the country to keep Kas from the wrath and powerful reach of her abusive father.
In the midst of the FBI team closing in on the Ghost, another ghost from Raina's past taunts her, promising that she will be his. Meanwhile, a different trafficking ring is gaining strength in New Jersey. Michael solicits Raina's help, needing her smooth, sultry voice to win the audition for the new singer in the ring leader's swanky night club. Raina knows her life is in jeopardy with the dangers of being undercover, but she is blindsided when she discovers that it's her heart that is threatened with a mortal blow.

Raina tries to heal from the nightmares of her dark past as the grisly bodies of innocent victims surface when the team gets closer to discovering the identity of the man responsible for the infuriatingly clever and powerful slavery ring. When Raina finally comes face to face with the Ghost, he quickly engulfs her in a twisted game of cat and mouse, delivering a veiled threat as he slips through her fingers. As the ghosts of her past and present ensnare her in their deadly web, Raina realizes the danger has just begun.

After The Rain
(Rain Trilogy #1)

By Karen-Anne Stewart

Finally able to put her harrowing past to rest, Raina looks forward to her future with Kas, but the Ghost has other plans. **Excerpt**

Kas’ heart pounds through his chest when Raina’s cry tears him out of his troubled slumber, and he hears something shatter. Not taking the time to put on his shirt, he runs into the kitchen and sees Raina kneeling on the floor, cleaning up broken glass with her bare hands. He is about to tell her to stop when bright red liquid oozes from her finger as one of the jagged shards slices her, causing blood to drip onto the floor. Raina looks up just in time to see Kas quickly coming towards her, and her stomach ties into a
million tight knots.

Kneeling down beside Raina, Kas reaches to grab the towel from the counter above her. He stops short when she throws her hand up, turning her head away and squeezing her eyes shut, instinctively protecting herself from a blow that he would never have administered.

Rage runs rampant inside of him. He wishes he could maim the men responsible for causing her to have such an ingrained defensive reaction.

Kas focuses on reining in his rage, not wanting to scare Raina anymore than she already is. Sitting back on his heels, he gives her some space before he tells her in as much of a calming tone as he can manage at the moment, “You will find out that I’m not like them. I won’t punish you for having an accident, and I won’t punish you when you do something wrong or something I don’t like.” He looks her squarely in the eyes and, with as much reassurance as he can possibly fit into a glance, he tells her, “I don’t hit, darlin’.”

Shame and embarrassment darkens her face as she mumbles, “I’m sorry.”

Kas moves towards her slowly, being careful not to make any quick movements that could frighten her. He curses under his breath when he sees that her finger is still bleeding and how she seems more concerned with trying to clean up the rest of the glass than taking care of the cut. He bitterly wonders at how severely her father must have punished her for her to react so quickly and defensively over something as trivial as a broken glass. “I’m going to get you a towel for your finger, leave the glass, I’ll get it with the broom.”

Desperately needing a distraction from her embarrassment of how she cringed like a cornered rabbit, she continues to pick up the shards of glass, “I’ve got it.”

Kas makes a mental note to beat the hell out of her father if he ever finds out who he is. He firmly, but gently, grabs her hand and wraps the towel around her finger. He hates the way she’s avoiding his gaze, the way shame has impinged her beautiful eyes. Helping her stand, he sees the brief flash of pain replace the shame, and he knows she has hurt herself by kneeling on the floor like that with broken and cracked ribs.

Gently taking Raina’s finger, Kas places it under the faucet before grabbing some peroxide out of the cabinet. “This might sting a bit,” he warns her as he pours some over the cut. Once he’s satisfied that the bleeding has stopped, and she doesn’t require stitches, he wraps a band aid around it before slowly bringing her injured finger to his lips and kissing the tip. The jolt of electricity from his lips caressing the tip of finger brings her back to reality, out of the fog of shame where she was temporarily lost. He said ‘them,’ Raina realizes in a panic. “What did you mean by ‘them’?”

Kas gazes into Raina’s questioning jade eyes and lets out a long, slow breath. “I know your father abused you,” he confesses. Her eyes widen, and she starts to pull her hand away, needing some distance to absorb this new information, but Kas refuses to release her. Pulling her closer to him, he runs the back of his fingers down the side of her face, so pleased and relieved that she doesn’t flinch this time.

“While you were still in a coma, the doctor ran tests that showed evidence of abuse,” he starts carefully, gauging her reaction. Raina lowers her gaze, trying to process just how much Kas knows, but he tilts her chin back up, to where she can’t look away, and musters up the courage to finally ask, his voice barely above a whisper, “What is your real name, Raina?”
